Objectives
If regions like Raja Ampat in West Papua, Indonesia, are to maintain their pristine beauty and bio-diversity, it is imperative that we are proactive in the development of the tourism industry. Local Departments of Tourism must be very receptive to suggestions as to how the industry can be developed responsibly. Along with local government, tourist agencies should be encouraged to develop low impact tourism and understand that the conservation of the environment is essential to the longevity of both the tourism industry and local communities. For example Misool Eco Resort in Raja Ampat has had the full cooperation of the Departmen Parawisata, the local Department of Tourism for West Papua, in securing contracts for the land.
